Upgrade has historically been difficult for dRonin and Tau Labs. In the Tanto release, an automatic-upgrade capability was added that makes things much easier. The upgrade uses a cloud service over the internet to interpret configurations from past releases, and automatically translate them so that they can run with the current software version.

Note: the automatic upgrade feature does not work for PipXtreme/telemetry radios because of limited resources, and does not work with Naze32 because we currently do not support serial booatloaders in GCS.

To upgrade, just start the ground control system software, and then plug in a flight board. A series of prompts will appear guiding you through the upgrade.

On the "Using cloud service to translate settings" step, you will be prompted to save a configuration backup. This is not required, but recommended as it simplifies recovery if something goes wrong with the upgrade.

On the final step, you must review the imported settings to the flight controller-- click "Review and Save," and then after reviewing the changes click "Save".
