It is usually best to reduce the dimensions of the image before lowering the resolution.

Adjusting the Pixel Size

  • Mac: In Preview, go to "Adjust Size" under the "Tools" menu and decrease the length and width dimensions
  • PC: In GIMP, go to "Scale Image" under the "Image" menu and lower the numbers

Adjusting the Resolution

  • Mac: Use the Preview application. Go to "Save As" under the "File" menu. Use the sliding "Quality" scale until you reach the desired size
  • PC: Download [http://www.gimp.org GIMP]. Follow same directions as above
