Configuring omeka for curatescape

The mobile client applications require Omeka to be installed and configured according to the following guide.

Required Files

Site Settings

  • Complete all site settings listed under /admin/settings that do not already have a default value.
  • In most cases, you will want to leave the default settings unchanged where applicable.
  • Ensure that your path to ImageMagick is correct by pressing the 'Test' button. The default is /usr/bin/.

Themes

Install and activate the Curatescape theme. For more information about Omeka themes, see: [Getting Started with Themes (Omeka.org)](http://omeka.org/codex/Getting_Started_with_Themes Omeka.org).

Activate the theme in /admin/themes/ and press the 'Configure' button to edit your theme settings. There are many settings to be configured in the Curatescape theme. Pay close attention to the description/instructions below each field.

Plugins

Install and activate the required 'Curatescape' plugins. See Curatescape README file on Github for current list of required plugins. For more information about Omeka plugins, see: [Getting Started with Plugins (Omeka.org)] (http://omeka.org/codex/Getting_Started_with_Plugins ).

Server Optimizations

Enable Caching and GZIP in your .htaccess file. See: FAQ: How can I speed up my site?

If compatible video files are not playing, try adding the mp4/m4v file type to your .htaccess file. See: FAQ: Video is not working on my site! How do I fix it?
