+Hello and welcome to today's news from Japan Daily News on August 15th, 2024. In today's news, a power outage affected over 240,000 homes in Osaka and Moriguchi. The outage occurred early in the morning and reached a peak of over 240,000 households without power. As of 8 a.m., around 8,000 homes were still experiencing power outages. Kansai Electric Power Distribution is investigating the cause of the outage.

+Moving on to our next story, Typhoon 7 is expected to approach Kanto and Tohoku. The typhoon has been developing and moving northward, with a potential approach to the Kanto and Tohoku regions on the 16th and 17th of August, Saturday. There is a risk of intense winds, which could cause partial house collapses in the Izu Islands. Additionally, severe weather conditions, including strong winds, high waves, and potential landslides, are expected in Kanto and Tohoku. Please exercise caution and remain vigilant.

+Next, we have a report of a collision involving two cars on the Tohoku Expressway in Tochigi. According to the fire department, the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on the downline of the Tohoku Expressway in Nasu-Shiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture. At least two children have been injured in the accident, but the extent of their injuries is currently unknown. There was a report of one of the cars driving in the wrong direction, and the police are investigating the details of the situation. As a result of the accident, the downline between the Nishinasuno-Shiobara Interchange and the Kuroiso-Itamuro Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway is closed.

+Moving on, the Tokaido Shinkansen will suspend its operations between Tokyo and Nagoya on the 16th of August. This decision comes as Typhoon 7 is expected to approach the Kanto region. The entire Tokyo-Nagoya route of the Tokaido Shinkansen will be suspended for the entire day.
