Thanks for the pull request, and welcome! The Rust team is excited to review your changes, and you should hear from @petrochenkov (or someone else) soon.

If any changes to this PR are deemed necessary, please add them as extra commits. This ensures that the reviewer can see what has changed since they last reviewed the code. Due to the way GitHub handles out-of-date commits, this should also make it reasonably obvious what issues have or haven't been addressed. Large or tricky changes may require several passes of review and changes.

Please see the contribution instructions for more information.

Shouldn't this come with a regression test?

(we discussed backporting this in today's T-compiler meeting. We are not certain what warn! will do here, in terms of what an end-user will see, so we held off on approving this change until after we've double-checked the default UX there...)

Discussed in today's T-compiler meeting. Inserting a warn! still seems unusual to me personally, but we decided to go ahead and approve for beta/stable backport, since it does correct an ICE, and the patch seems harmless enough.

[stable] 1.41.1 release

This backports the following PRs:
 * Revert "Remove `checked_add` in `Layout::repeat`" #69241
 * Do not ICE when encountering `yield` inside `async` block #69175
 * Correct ICE caused by macros generating invalid spans. #68611
 * Changelog: Demonstrate final build-override syntax #68603
 * Resolve long compile times when evaluating always valid constants #67667
 * Fix MIR typeck soundness holes #69145

This also includes a commit which rustfmt's files which the latter commits touched (and perhaps a bit more) to make rebasing the PRs go more smoothly (thankfully, this should be the last time we need to do so).

I have removed stable-nominated tags from PRs successfully backported.
