Will this project also with the Unicorn HAT?

I haven't tested, but in theory this should work as well. The library can detect if you're using a Unicorn HAT or a Unicorn pHAT. If things are not working out, try modifying the main function in the beginning by inserting

unicorn.set_layout(unicorn.PHAT)

The RGBs are not turning on

Please check the following

• GPIO on your Pi is enabled
• Your soldering is working
• The app didn't crash after booting

I am receiving an empty JSON response

Please make sure, that you have enabled the presence.read scope in your Azure AD app.
