Is there a specific reason why we don't use fuse's default_permissions option? Given this bug in fuse libfuse/libfuse#15 using default_permissions might put us on the safe side. I see no immediate downside to this.

Can't think of a reason not to, I don't think we do anything particular odd around permissions, right?
