SW4 3.0 includes various bug fixes and new features:

  • Curvilinear mesh refinement.
  • Read material properties in the sfile and GeoModelGrids (HDF5) formats.
  • Output material properties data in the sfile format.
  • Output cross-section image files in the HDF5 format.
  • Output time-history data at different locations in the HDF5 format.
  • Output near-surface sub-volume data (optionally with ZFP compression) in the HDF5 format.
  • Some support for full-waveform inversion of the material model

This release contains 5 years of improvements, including mesh refinement in the curvilinear grid, hdf5 support for many output formats, check pointing, file compression using the zfp library. The release also includes the code sw4mopt, which is used for optimizing the material model to improve agreement between simulations and data. Note that this release only includes support for many-core CPU machines. The source code for GPU-accelerated machines can be found in the RAJA branch of the repository. The documentation and installation instructions have been updated and can be found in the doc directory. See these documents for more detailed information.
