This is a glossary of all Uni tags and details that appear in the syllabus.

Ideation tags

  1. sameold: An idea that acknowledges what historically has stayed the same (see questions for help)
  2. mything: An idea that leverages your domain expertise in a technology, market, hobby, etc. (see questions for help)
  3. featureinsearchofaproduct: An idea that turns a feature of an existing product into its own product (see questions for help)
  4. ineedthis: An idea that you need in your own life (see questions for help)
  5. whatsnew: An idea based on your understanding of contemporary culture (see questions for help)
  6. redefine: An idea that redefines the use of one or more features of an existing product
  7. relate: An idea that arbitrarily relates two features of an existing product
  8. rememberwhen: An idea that predicts the adjacent probable or possible future
  9. remove: An idea that removes one or more features from an existing product
  10. replace: An idea that replaces one or more features of an existing product
  11. technologyinsearchofaproblem: An idea that leverages a new technology whose application is unknown or uncertain (see questions for help)
  12. youneedthis: An idea based on insights gained from doing user research (see the ineedthis questions and replace "I" with "you")

Startup path tags

  1. growth: fast-growing startups with large capital requirements typically funded by VCs that aspire to generate substantial user adoption and significant revenue scale
  2. value: steadily-growing startups that demonstrate a clear path to positive cash flows in a short time frame
  3. purpose: mission-driven startups with high social and/or environmental impact that reach sustainability via charitable donations, grants, or investments

  2. vcbait: An idea while playing VC Bait

Details

  1. Angel: What is great about this idea?
  2. Bigger: What is the potential of this idea in terms of users, usage, and value? How can this idea have more users, usage, or value?
  3. Comparable: Who are other competitors or players in this space?
  4. Desirable: How does this idea capture the hearts and souls of real people (or companies, or another audience)? Why do they need this idea?
  5. Devil: What is NOT great about this idea?
  6. Disruptive: Is this idea a gimmick, incremental, radical, or disruptive? How can this idea be more disruptive?
  7. Early Adopter: Who are the early adopters of this idea?
  8. Is It Possible: Can this idea actually be executed?
  9. Market Size: What is the total addressable market for this idea in dollars or some other measure of impact?
  10. Narrative: Knowing everything you now know, how can you express this idea in one concise sentence?
  11. Premortem: In the future this idea has failed! Why do you think this is?
  12. Skateboard: What is the quickest way to get started on executing this idea?
  13. Show Your Work: Explain how you used an ideation method to produce a given idea.
  14. What If: What if we changed or considered X for this idea?
  15. Why Not: Why do it despite all the reasons not to, even if it seems stupid or impossible to many?
  16. Why Now: Why is now the best time to execute on this idea?
  17. Why You: Why are you a great team of people to execute on this idea? (see questions for help)
