This version is based on an earlier version that was verified against the operational MOD16 Collection 6.1 code. However, changes have since been made that will ultimately be incorporated into MODIS MOD16 Collection 7 (C7) and VIIRS VNP16 Collection 2 (C2):

  • A new formula for air pressure, based on elevation, has been added. MOD16 is agnostic as to how air pressure is derived, but this new formula matches what is done in C7.
  • Calculation of wet canopy evaporation has changed.
  • Soil heat flux is no longer scaled by the soil area.
