Artwork Naming Conventions

The artwork naming conventions follows mostly the XMBC Frodo style. See XMBC Frodo Local Image Naming Also some YAMJ specific naming conventions are used.

The following cases describe which image name is applied to which kind of video.
ext = valid image extension (jpeg, jpg, gif, bmp, png)
videofilename = name of the video without extension

Naming of local poster images for movies

  • poster.[ext]: Applied to all videos in the same directory
  • cover.[ext]: Applied to all videos in the same directory
  • folder.[ext]: Applied to all videos in the same directory
  • [videofilename].[ext]: Applied to matching video in same directory
  • [videofilename]-poster.[ext]: Applied to matching video in same directory
  • [videofilename].poster.[ext]: Applied to matching video in same directory

Naming of local fanart images for movies

  • fanart.[ext]: Applied to all videos in the same directory
  • background.[ext]: Applied to all videos in the same directory
  • backdrop.[ext]: Applied to all videos in the same directory
  • [videofilename]-fanart.[ext]: Applied to matching video in same directory
  • [videofilename].fanart.[ext]: Applied to matching video in same directory
