I have been using "Global Blocks" plugin for a long time but now we have Gutenberg Reusable Blocks I was hoping this feature would allow me to ditch the plugin but it appears I wont be able to do so quite yet because Gutenberg Reusable Blocks aren't so usable after all!.

I can create a reusable block in a page/post but there's no way I have found to use the reusable block in another post/page without resorting to other plugins. Surely if I have created a reusable block with say name, address, phone number, etc on one page/post I should be able to use that same reusable block in another page/post. Isn't that the correct usage of reusable blocks?

Hi @gbassoc

Could you please give us some details as to why you were not able to add reusable block to another page/post?

Btw
I did a run through of my experience with reusable blocks here (It also shows the existing process): #12286

here you go @paaljoachim

On page "Test 1" I am creating a reusable block and saving as "TEST Reusable Block"

1

2

On the "Add Block" panel {top left} I now have a "Reusable" group and within that group "TEST Reusable block", created just now, is listed and I can select and use it on this page.

3

I have now created a new page "Test 2". On Test 2 I want to use the "TEST Reusable Block" I created earlier, but when I click "Add Block" the "Reusable" group is not listed.

4

Here is a screenshot of all the blocks in Reusable Block Management, as you can see I have six reusable blocks, however, they are not listed under the "Add Block" panel so I am not able to reuse them on any other page or post directly from this panel

BTW, I should say for most of these reusable blocks I have deleted the post or page on which the reusable blocks were originally created.

5

Now, having said that it should be said that these reusable block can be used elsewhere in my website by resorting to some sort of plugin such as "List Posts" where I can reference reusable blocks by ID or by Name, so immensely useful in those situations.

Hey @gbassoc

Try these things:
Deactivate all plugins (except Gutenberg plugin if you are using it), and switch to a default theme like Twenty Nineteen, Twenty seventeen etc.
Then see if the reusable block group is showing up in other pages.
As this can be a plugin or theme conflict causing the reusable block group not to show up.

I suspect that you have a broken reusable block somewhere, try to go the "Manage reusable blocks" page. Delete all reusable blocks and start over.
