The RIPE expert did not utilize a keepalive http session and had to poll the RIPE authority for each separate request, forcing connection establishment (tcp, ssl...). This was fixed to utilize 'requests' http session, which manages the keepalive behaviour proprely. The change results in ~5x-20x increased performence for RIPE db calls.
