How do I use Livestream Highlighter?

Basic use

  1. In a livestream archive, click on the button that says "LIVESTREAM HIGHLIGHTS" between the live chat replay and the recommendations section.
  2. Livestream Highlighter will begin analyzing chat messages in order to find trends in the chat based on the settings in the settings menu.
  3. Click on the timestamps that show up in the panel during analysis in order to head to those moments in the video where chat trends are found.
  4. You can press the "SETTINGS" button in order to change how the live chat messages are analyzed.

How do the settings work?

There are three panels in the settings menu.

  1. The leftmost panel lets you choose which set of settings will be used for message analysis. All of the groups in a chosen set are used during message analysis.
  2. The center panel lets you switch between the different groups to view and edit them as you please. Which group is currently being viewed does not affect message analysis.
  3. The rightmost panel lets you change the different settings for the group you're currently viewing. You can also delete the current group or set through the buttons at the top.
3.1) The topmost buttons let you reach this help section, delete the current set, or delete the current group.
3.2) Group Regex Filter (optional): You can put in a regular expression here if you want to restrict message analysis to a certain subset of chat messages defined by the expression.
3.3) Group enabled: This determines whether or not trends for this group are looked for during analysis.
3.4) Time offset(s): This determines how many seconds to link back to in the trend timestamps. For example, if a trend is found at 5:30 and the time offset is 15s, the timestamp will send you to 5:15 so that you can watch the reason in the video for why the trend occurred.
3.5) Sensitivity: This determines what percentage of the chat has to match a group's trend indicators in order for a trend of that group to be registered. It ranges from 0.1 to 1 in steps of 0.1. For example, if sensitivity is 0.5, at least half of the chat's messages has to contain at least 1 of the group's trend indicators in order for a trend to occur in the analysis results.
3.6) Trend Indicator Panel: This panel contains text to look for in chat messages in order for a message to count towards a trend. Regex or regular text can be used 3.7) Save & Cancel: If there are no error messages, hit the save button to save your changes to the settings and reanalyze the chat based on your new settings. Or you can hit cancel to revert all your changes.
