I implemented this feature following the second approach. What do you guys think? Looks good to me.

I feel like this would be better suited to the "Map Special Buttons" menu e.g. allow button combinations by listening for KeyUp rather than KeyDown when remapping buttons.

This would also allow people to opt to use another mechanism e.g. Alt+PrintScreen if they wanted.

Hi, i'm still new to github. How do I install your implementation on my machine? I need it to take screenshots from non-steam games and I don't want to switch between my controller and keyboard to take screenshots...

I'm pretty late to the party, but you'd need to compile the program from source and modify the source code yourself until it is merged, if ever.
