My username typegaro is inspired by Garo (ガロ), a Japanese avant-garde manga magazine published from 1964 to 2002. Founded by Katsuichi Nagai, Garo was an important platform for alternative and experimental manga, often politically radical, artistically bold, and subversive. It promoted underground artists and works exploring themes like social alienation, anti-authoritarianism, surrealism, and countercultural ideas.
