r00t not is only required for bootstrap. (that will hopefully go away very soon w/ centralized config) - after bootstrap you can give it other seed-nodes in the cluster. only requirement is that all node-ids are unique and do not change from between restarts (no support byzantine faults - explicitly node id llying to cluster metadata) so relatively straight forward and will be simpelr soon. |

If I have a cluster running, and the root node goes down, will that take down the whole cluster?
Furthermore when I go to add a new node back, do I need to make an entirely new node, or add the root node back how it was before it went down?
