I'm experiencing this too. I think YT might be throttling in certain cases. yt-dlp does a lot of tricks to try to bypass the throttling, afaik.

I feel like ever since I updated the library from 2.9 to 2.10, the downloading speed decreased a ton. I don't know if the update was the reason, or if something else is causing it (like throttling), but it would be much appreciated if this issue was looked into. The downloading speed is now too slow to be able to play videos as they are downloading. I'm using the library API, not the cli client.
