Are you referring to the dashboard example? I have added the example lovelace remote card from the docs and it continues to work after choosing Netflix here. I am able to navigate the Google TV menus, choose Netflix, exit, re-enter using the shortcut on the remote and continue navigation within Netflix.

I don't have Netflix to be able to test. @meierthomas does it work with the remote inside the Google TV mobile app? The integration is using the same protocol. If it doesn't work on the Google TV app, I'm afraid there is nothing I can do.

Seems to be an issue either with the Netflix app or the chromecast since I can't navigate within Netflix from the Google home app. The workaround for me is to send commands using adb_command instead.

In that case you need to raise an issue to Google and Netflix.

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, I used the dashboard example from https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/androidtv_remote/ with the right entity.

I can navigate within Google TV (actually quite impressed how snappy the navigation is). Re apps:

  • I can start Amazon Prime and navigate the app
  • I can start Netflix but can't navigate. All that works is the home button to go back to the app launcher in Google TV
  • I can't start YouTube "You don't have an app that can do this"
  • I can start Disney+ and navigate

So it all goes back to Netflix. Seems like @s-knibbs has the same issue

Could you please elaborate on this workaround? Without Netflix my WAF is close to 0 as she spends 95% on Netflix :)

Same issue...

Same here, but on Kodi. Works outside the app, in the menus, but no effect when Kodi is open.

Works for me in Kodi. Does the Google TV or Google Home mobile app work? If not, then it won't work with this integration either.

I have the same problem with Netflix, the Google TV DPAD command does not work on Netflix...
The solution I found was to set the DPAD to come from the Samsung TV integration instead, which was actually beneficial in many ways since I can now control the TV when the TV menus pop up moreover, now, I can set the TV SOURCE when needed without having to resort to a second controller which is a tremendous win-win for me.

Same issue here.

@s-knibbs would you mind elaborating on your workaround using adb commands. Looks like we're all in the same boat to implement this workaround
