How to connect to GitHub Enterprise from VsCode (2024-07)?

I am evaluating GitLens for VsCode and I am a bit confused as to how exactly make GitLens aware of GHE and what I should expect to see afterwards.

My context is: VSCode opened on a git repo with origin pointing to our GHE instance. I am in the eval phase, including the PRO features (e.g. seeing the commit graph).

Would it be possible to outline what features exactly depend on connecting GitLens to GHE?

And how would I do this today? I have seen various posts, some talking about a gitlens.remotes setting, others stating this is no longer working or required. The only thing I know: If I select the "Launchpad" feature, it tells me I should connect to GitHub. But authentication always goes to github.com.

Would be terrific if someone could explain how to properly connect today and "why" in terms of features.
