Closely related to #1619 and #2261, but we seem to have missed a specific issue for tracking the overall FF performance issues that folks are reporting.

It's not ideal, but it feels that FF 57 (Quantum) has sped things up to be only 17% slower than Chrome (as opposed to 500%), based on the benchmarks on #4997. So I'm going to close this for all the wrong reasons :D
