I Sing Of . . . #63
Comments
I've got some work in place on "I Sing Of". I'm taking the first verse of the Aeneid ("I sing of arms and the man . . .") and morphing it gradually into different "songs". Currently very rough as it is either a) somewhat uninteresting or b) expands in size far too quickly, but I've included some sample output. The first is the original: I sing of arms and the man who of old from the coasts of Troy came, an exile of I sing of and the man who of old from the coast of Troy came, an expatriate of f I sing of the man who of old from the shore of Troy came, an refugee of fate, to I sing of man who of old from the seashore of Troy came, an displaced person of I sing of who of old from the shore of Troy came, an displaced person of fate, t |
An update: here is another sample from current progress. This is now producing much closer to the intended output, but only remains interesting up to about 13-25k words. Past that the program finds its way into local minima from which it cannot escape. I sing of arms and the man who of old from the coasts of Troy came, an exile of fate, to Italy and to the shore of Lavinium; hard driven on land and on the deep by the violence of heaven, for cruel Juno's unforgetful anger, and hard bestead in war also ere he might found a city and carry his gods into Latium; from whom is the Latin race, the lords of Alba, and the stately city Rome. I sing of bomb and the graybeard who of old from the seaside of Ilion came, an expatriation of fate, to Italia and to the shore of Lavinium; hard control on homestead and on the deep by the riot of heaven, for roughshod Juno's unforgetful anger, and voiceless bestead in jehad also ere he might found a capital and carry his God into Latium; from whom is the Latin race, the lord of Alba, and the provincial capital Rome. I sing of device and the man who of yesteryear from the seacoast of Ilion came, an proscription of fate, to Italy and to the coast of Lavinium; hard rein on homestead and on the deep by the force of heaven, for heavy-handed Juno's unforgetful anger, and voiceless bestead in warfare also ere he might found a assets and transferral his God into Latium; from whom is the language race, the lord of Alba, and the seed money Rome. I sing of trigger and the person who of history from the seashore of Ilion came, an banning-order of fate, to Italy and to the shore of Lavinium; hard checkrein on homestead and on the middle by the heartbeat of heaven, for heavy-handed Juno's unforgetful anger, and voiceless bestead in action also ere he might found a receivable and his graven image into Latium; from whom is the language race, the Trinity of Alba, and the fruit subsidization Rome. I sing of trigger and the being who past times from the seashore of Ilion came, an proscription of fate, to Republic and to the strand of Lavinium; hard rein on land and on the centre by the heartbeat of heaven, for ham-fisted Juno's unforgetful anger, and aphonic bestead in playing also ere he might found a receivable and graven imagination image into Latium; from whom is the language race, the digit of Alba, and the fruit money Rome. I sing of lever and the state who Roman times from the tideland of Ilium came, an decree of fate, to democracy and to the pattern of Lavinium; intemperately strap on realty and on the center by the event of heaven, for ham-fisted Juno's unforgetful anger, and aphonic bestead in performance also ere he might found a receivable and imagery imagination image into Latium; from whom is the process race, the digit of Alba, and the structure fund Rome. I sing of bar and the eparchy who Roman time from the tideland of Ilium came, an curfew of fate, to orientation and to the kaleidoscope of Lavinium; leather strip on estate and on the area by the event of heaven, for bungling Juno's unforgetful anger, and aphonic bestead in performance also ere he might found a receivable and thinking visual image into Latium; from whom is the procedure race, the 4 of Alba, and the sinking fund Rome. I sing of measure and the eparchy who papistic case from the seacoast of Troy came, an deadline of fate, to position and to the shape of Lavinium; skin row on estate and on the spot by the event of heaven, for bungle Juno's unforgetful anger, and aphonic bestead in show also ere he might found a receivable and thinking ocular visualisation into Latium; from whom is the routine race, the figure of Alba, and the settling money Rome. |
My code is up on github here: https://github.com/estayton/NaNoGenMo-2014 _noreplacement_witharticles.txt in that repo is the latest sample output. It does meet the 50k+ words length criterion, but I plan to do a little more work to produce more interesting output. But I think it is looking pretty good at present. |
Interesting! |
The code: https://github.com/estayton/NaNoGenMo-2014/blob/master/Isingof.py I believe according to the standards of this event, this work is complete. (Notes: The plain text output, as generated by the program, clocks in at 55000+ words. The program is now semi-deterministic, barring changes to wordnet: it seeds the random number genator with the current year, so there should only be one novel produced in 2014 by this program, and a new one in 2015, etc. For my own sanity, I do need to implement a method to allow the program to escape the small regions of wordnet it gets stuck in by following one-way links that it cannot return back through (philanderer -> Don Juan, which sticks for most of the current novel). However, I do not anticipate time to fix this until after December 15, so I'm publishing the current novel as-is.) |
Maintainer: I have finished development for the purposes of this event. Please check for completeness and mark as such, or alert me to an issue. Thanks! |
I will be participating this year. I have some ideas brewing but nothing definite yet. I will update as I progress.
