SOLUTION	Store payer information (e.g. Medicare, Private etc.) in payer_plan_period.payer_concept_id and store plan information (e.g. PPO, HMO etc.) in payer_plan_period.plan_concept_id.
NEXT STEPS	Finalize guidelines, create a vocabulary for the concepts including hierarchy (http://forums.ohdsi.org/t/provider-table-standardize-the-way-providers-are-identified/4324/3). You need a group of people to add granular payers and then map them to parent payers. It is going to take someone from the vocabulary work group and someone that understands payers. This is not a version 6 issue, as the fields specified are also in version 5.3.1. It’s an “ad hoc” group issue.
