To report a package, users click on 'Report'
(to be changed to 'Report package' in package details page redesign) which sends them to the 'Report abuse' page, seen below:
Issues:
The title of the page, 'Report abuse', does not match the link coming in (either 'Report' or 'Report package')
'Report abuse' does not include other reasons for reporting a package, like copyright infringement or security vulnerabilities
Users are given mixed signals. For example, a large yellow warning banner tells users that this page is not for reporting bugs in a package. However, reporting bugs in a package is given as an option below. As a result, we do get support requests about bugs for individual packages.
Combined, these issues become a barrier both to users trying to get their complaints answered and to our support engineers, who must spend additional time on answering questions that could have been answered at the start. There is also a security concern because users do not get clear communication as to where they can report vulnerabilities.
Especially with new additions to the form #8590, streamlining this page will increase efficiency both for users and support engineers.
