The Sphinx configuration uses the alabaster theme, which IMHO is not so nice as the readthedocs theme. Should we switch the default?

To do that, sphinx_rtd_theme should be added to the documentation build dependencies in setup.py, and html_theme should be set to sphinx_rtd_theme in docs/conf.py.

Good suggestion, I really dislike alabaster!
