Verification via Metamorphic Testing and Virtual Prototypes uncovered (potential) bugs

first of all, we want to express our appreciation for the great work done on this library — it’s been a fantastic resource, and we’ve really enjoyed using it. Initially, as part of a master thesis, we have developed a new methodology for verifying embedded graphics libraries leveraging Metamorphic Testing (MT) and Virtual Prototypes (VPs). Our approach automates testing and can run the full HW/SW stack fully virtual. In our experiments we applied our MT framework to the TFT_eSPI library and identified (potential) bugs.

We have published our approach at the ASP-DAC 2024 conference [1]. Additionally, we have made our framework available at GitHub [2].

We hope this information is helpful. We are happy to provide more details of our MT framework and to discuss our findings further.
