Hi,

I was wondering whether there is any interest / opinion on supporting some form of "multi-mode" analysis
within single instance of OpenSTA ?

Its perfectly fine to generate "scenario table with SDC+corner combinations" in some bash / perl / python
scripting, and invoke many instaces of OpenSTA to de-facto do the same thing.

This is OK for sign-off STA. But e.g. in the OpenRoad use-case, it may be beneficial if the tool could
optimize for multiple SDCs at once. Scan mode has typically separate SDCs with different case-analysis
settings. I am not sure If someone have used OpenROAD to do a design with both functional behavior
and scan chains, both covered by the STA. @maliberty do you happend to have any info about this ?

Hi @maliberty , thanks for quick reply. I messed up the terms slightly. I meant only the MM functionality. It is good to know this is on the table. May know if this will be implementation in OpenSTA or in OpenROAD ?

Multi-corner/multi-mode analysis has been on the development plan for a very long time. I have thought about it a lot and taken a few swipes at it but it changes a huge amount of code in pretty fundamental ways so I have never managed to make much progress. Recently I tried a different approach that looks like it will work out. I never make promises about delivery dates because interruptions from bugs, PRs and feature requests from paying customers have priority and are not predictable.
