Alternate to datasets module

Though it was significant time in developing the datasets module, I saw on a numpy example they use a library called pooch https://www.fatiando.org/pooch/latest/ to load datasets.
It has funtionality to directly fetch from doi even.

I am not sure how useful it is to work on it for now. But definitely could be looked at in future.
