How can I install the I2C-based Omega2 expansion utilities on an upgraded Omega2+ running OpenWRT 23.05 ? eg /usr/sbin/oled-exp ?

@johnwalicki the expansion utilities haven't yet been ported for the OpenWRT 23.05. We're still on the fence about this for two reasons:

1. The I2C implementation is alright but there's other implementations out there that are better in every way (code quality, documentation, maintenance)
2. Instead of maintaining old packages that provide marginal benefits, we want to focus our development efforts on what Omega2 users actually find important

Do you find being able to easily and quickly control the Expansions is essential to your workflow with the omega2?

Hi @greenbreakfast - Thanks for the reply. The OLED expansion is helpful to add a display / output to the Omega2. My use case is for demo purposes only, so don't invest significant effort into it.

Hi @johnwalicki, a good demo goes a long way! So we made the command line utilities that control the OLED, PWM, and Relay Expansion available as packages for the 23.05 firmware. 
They’re not installed in the firmware by default, you will have to run opkg update; opkg install oled-exp relay-exp pwm-exp to install them. Then you can use them on the command line like before. Let me know if you run into any issues!

Do you have any documentation on which packages are needed to support which boards (e.g. Dash)? I Upgraded a Dash and can't do anything with the display.

The beta firmware does not have any specific support for the Omega2 Dash TFT display at the moment. Is there a specific use case you're looking to support?
